On 19 February 2016, we launched our 6th issue of Unravel with a special feature on Polyglotism with writers, editors, designers, and readers from all around the globe (except Antartica, as we like to say). As a magazine for language lovers, we hope to spread knowledge, tips, and also experiences in reflecting upon language use in society. Such a reflection came in the form of an article for our language-acquisition column Ausländer titled Dissecting the whole foreign language thing (and some tips), written by Demas Koh who is now based in London. Since then, Demas has translated his article into 华文 (Chinese) and Français (French)!
Part of the initial aims of Unravel is to raise awareness about the field of linguistics—and also how Anglocentric it is. Thus, we’re always excited to receive publications in languages other than English! Since our inception in November 2014, we’ve been accepting articles in 10 other languages apart from English: Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, 日本語, Kiswahili, Português, Русский язык, Türkçe, and 华文.
Feel free to write to us anytime if you’d like to be a part of our journalinguist team—as an editor, writer, designer, or collaborator!
